BUSHRANGER
A uniquely Australian word. Overseas visitors are often confused in thinking that a "Bushranger" is a type of Park Ranger, but this is not so. The word first appeared in the Sydney Gazette dated 4th May 1806 in a story about the capture of William Page. Before than bushrangers were known as "banditti", "highwaymen" or "outlaws"
