MEET THE STAFF
Meet the Staff at Abercrombie Caves
Say "G'Day" to them during your next visit.
is the currently in charge at Abercrombie Caves. Which means that it's his job to keep things running smoothly for our visitors. Barry first became interested in exploring caves back in the early 1970's and became a member of various caving groups (or Speleological Societies). Barry has been part of the team since 1985 when he started out as a casual guide. He was appointed to the permanent staff two years later. His keen interest in history has led to quite a lot of research into the local history of the Caves and the nearby village of Trunkey Creek. Barry has compiled a list of signatures that appear in the caves, which is very useful to anyone trying to track down family history in the area. If you need any help during your stay at Abercrombie Caves, Barry and his wife, Lynette live on-site and are always willing to help.
Stuart has worked at Abercrombie Caves for several years and when Barry is away he looks after the caves. Stuart lives locally with his wife Chantal and their two daughters: Lauren and Claire. He knows the local area very well. Stuart has studied Karst Resource Management at Charles Sturt University. The course covered some of the scientific aspects of caves. If you have any technical questions about the caves he is more than happy to answer them.
You may see Lynette serving in the kiosk, cleaning the accommodation or even guiding visitors through the caves.
She originally comes from Crookwell and Goulburn. Lynette and Barry met at the caves and in 1991 they got married on the historical Gold-miners Dance Platform. (A magnificent place for a special occassion!)
Lyn is a very busy lady who is heavily involved in community groups. She is on just about every commttee in the area. Barry says that she is so busy that he often has to make an appointment to see her!
By the way Lynette's main interest is Family History
